Scottish Bridie and Veggies by califrayray

Scottish Bridie and Veggies by califrayray

July 24th, 2009 : July 27th, 2004 Irish Cultural Festival at Berea County Fairgrounds

I linked directly to the menu. The corned beef sandwiches caught my eye. What’s a bridie? Apparently, it’s a lot like a pasty. Many country’s workers traditionally had a hot-pocket-like food. There was every thing empanadas and Jamaican beef patties to pasties and bridies. And each hot pocket tells a story whether it’s pasties imported by Cornish miners to Michigan and Mexico or bieroks/runzas imported by Germans to Kansas and Argentina.

July 16th, 2009 : July 19th, 2004 St. Gregory the Great Parish Fesival at Church of St. Gregory the Great

Rides, Italian food, fair food…

July 18, 2009 122pm : Pierogi Fest at Parmatown Mall

Live polka music.

Also: pierogi…bierock… pierogi… bierock… pierogi… pirok… bierock. Yup, there’s a connection. (And pirok is a real thing, too.)

July 25th : 26th, 2009 Little Mountain Heritage Festival at Lake County Historical Society

The website promises “home style food” but this one is more about the music. 5 stages of continuous musical performances.
