Hi Stu. I am a fellow food fanatic in Cleveland and I would just like to say I love your blog and and your flikr galleries. What a collection! I have a question regarding Siam Cafe: I am a regular patron at the restaurants in Asia Town, but I cant speak a lick of chinese. Surprisingly, I have never been to Siam Cafe. How do you go about ordering the items listed in your Siam Cafe gallery? I would like to know because there are a ton of things I would like to try when I go there with my brother this weekend. Thanks for any feedback! Feel free to email me at Bucknut2005@adelphia.net
Almost all of pictured dishes are on the menu. If you choose something from the menu, I can’t imagine you’ll have any communication difficulties. The staff are all native Chinese speakers but they’re all fluent, or at least proficient, in English.
The soups are great. I particularly like some of the soups that are eaten as entrees: the beef noodle soup, the (Vietnamese) bun bo hue, the chicken noodle soup. The roast duck. The steamed (boiled?) chicken is a plain dish but I think it’s delicious. The fried chicken. The (Vietnamese) char broiled beef. The fried tofu is great. Those are the items that popped into my head first.
Once I discovered Siam Cafe, I pretty much stopped eating Chinese food anywhere else in Cleveland. I’ve occasionally venture to some other Vietnamese restaurant, but much of the Vietnamese food at Siam Cafe is also excellent.
I hope you enjoy your meal. Please come back and let us know how your meal went.
Thanks for the quick reply. Ill take your advice and go with a little bit of everything. Also, I went to Lure Bistro in Willoughby last night. It was the first time Ive been there since Nick sold the place and wow, it was unbelievable. I had Swordfish with a saffron risotto in a miso broth. It left me speachless. Their late night happy hour also can’t be beat, although Lolita gives it a run for its money. Check our their website @ http://www.thelurebistro.com
I maintain a personal database of locations. Restaurants, mostly. Other locations to help me orient myself while looking for restaurants. It's grown quite large. It includes most of the Beard Award nominees for the last three years for instance. Plus hundreds of other restaurants from magazine awards and random things I hear. If, for instance, you were interested in a list all the BBQ restaurants that I'm interested in, you would browse this map. These aren't recommendations. I've visited a small fraction of these restaurants. This is a list of places that I'd like to visit. I try to only add items based on reputable recommendations. But when I'm a little lightheaded, sometimes stuff slips in. Don't foodblog when you're hungry.Click here to go to Tagzania and browse my list.
